Ultimate Place To Find All Tricks n Tips !!

Vuze has been the leader in the Torrent downloading client for years , but they are desperate due to growing competition from the utorrent community, This has pushed this once great torrent client to the edge and now the Vuze comes with the Ask toolbar packed , and unfortunately there is no way you can stop its installation , because they have hard locked the toolbar installation with their Agreement ! And you are left with two option now , either install vuze with the tool bar or not install vuze at all! for a common user , it can be very deceiving , as the Agreement looks similar to the one with that of vuze and many user , I for example have been ” DECEIVED ” thinking that its the actual Vuze Agreement !Nowadays everone is on a hurry , and who reads agreement ? and something looking like the below will take anyone thinking that its the Vuze Agreement !
As you see from the picture above , they have hard locked decevingly placed the toolbar installation!. Recent poll in Torrentfreak showed that Vuze is the most popular client , and i don’t know why they want to spoil all those fan base with these nasty toolbar ?
Updated : I was informed from the Vuze community that this is a vuze toolbar , but its actually the ASK toolbar which gets installed and it messed with my Firefox setting ! I am a hardcore fan of Vuze , and will stay that way , But packing toolbar and other such things are totally seen as a spyware , bloating addition to the softwares , and toolbar are now only famous for thier spying activity , etc. If they want to earn money , i would whole heartedly enjoy seeing a inital 5-10 sec Advertisement on their Vuze videos on Vuze Network ! or Placing ads on Vuze Client itself , like Yahoo Messenger !
Anyway coming to the uninstallation part.
Throughout the web there are many tutorials explaining how to uninstall the toll bar , but they are not complete.here is the complete procedure to remove it without a residue !
Firstly install Vuze as usual and dont bother about the toolbar , now go to the Control panel and go to ” ADD/Remove Programs” and search for the ” Vuze – toolbar ” and click uninstall , this will remove the toolbar.
What many don’t realize is that this Nasty toolbar messes with the Firefox and change the default search engine .
Here is how you remove it from the Firefox.
Go to the Add-On and remove the Ask Toolbar and restart your browser .
Next type about:config in the address bar and click continue if it ask you and search for the following entries and right click them and select “Reset ”
browser.search.selectedEngine
browser.search.order.1
keyword.URL
extensions.snipit.chromeURL
As i said before , after searching for each entry , right click them and select “Reset”
Also go to the Internet Explorer and select the “manage Add-on ” and unistall the ToolBar or disable it , that will do . If it has added a search engine
If it had changed your home page , delete it and select ” blank ”

This is totally off-base. The Ask.com toolbar has been included for MANY months. Did you even attempt to uncheck the ‘I accept’ box? Those license terms are for the Ask toolbar!
I’ve installed Vuze many times, and it has never installed the Ask.com toolbar when I tell it not to.

Not true actually; the toolbar offer is optional via opt-out. Simply uncheck the ‘I accept the License Terms…’ checkbox on the offer screen and no toolbar will be installed, period.
Cheers.
Thanks for the wonderful tutorial , but as you can see , the box shown is for the toolbar , not for the vuze , even i was deceived by it . Very poor installation design from the vuze team !
Anyway , all the tricks here are super.
Keep posting more!

Yes , we made a mistake on that part , will edit the post. ! thanks . But still we stand on the part that , vuze toolbar is totally un-neccesary based on the popularity of the Vuze!
And needless to say , the way installation presents itself , is very deceiving !
I was having Vuze for years and recently had to fresh install windows 7 and downloaded a latest copy of vuze and found the ASK toolbar along with it !
Yeah i too didn’t see it..
i thought it was vuze agreement !
Nice find and nice Article ! Bookmarked !!!
Thanks a billion for this tut
I installed VUZE on FF MAC, and did not get the ASK toolbar, but a Vuze toolbar. I installed it on two machines. I still have it on one because it is somewhat personalized, but it was very easy to remove it from my MAC….. am I missing something?
welcome
The article is usefull for me. I’ll be coming back to your blog.
ehh.. nice.
Thnkx man.. I removed the Ask toolbar before i found your article.. But as you said man, it really fucked up my Firefox and I really went nuts as I depend so much on it.. I had to go through every nook and cranny to remove it.. Was a total nuisance and I didn’t get it from Vuze, but from another p2p software I was testing. Its a real head-ache.. This link is usefull as it list the places I had to find myself.. But I agree with you fully this is F***ing irritating and I don’t think Ask is earning any new friends through such measures..
yes it is… thnks for leaving ur comment
This is a brilliant guide. I searched for ages to find out how to delete this pain in the arse add on and this is the only site with a correct way of doing it. There are some negative comments about this on the Azureus forum so you should go back and set them straight.
thnks Adstorm ,
vuze will be laying the nice guy face as long as it takes… , just follow the instruction and enjoy vuze , i love vuze … the dev have done good job , we should agree on that part. anyway , if u feel this site is correct just support us there … thanks again for the comments
like to delete vuze toolbar completly
it was helpful, because I installed utorrent and ask toolbar came together, deactivanting the addon on firefox no solved all issues, I noted somethings strange. The solution was about:config and search for ask, all entries where this word was fount I did the reset, now my browser came back to work fine.
Thank you, good post.
i was getting really hacked of not being able to get rid of ask, great tip!
Me too was devoted user of Azureus [why did they changed name to Vuze???]
but because of this dirty ask toolbar and the way they implemented it, now im not gonna use it anymore
i dont want to support this kind of free software with surprises
